The Lusaka High Court has adjourned the aggravated robbery trial of Solomon Mbewe, 26, and Felix Chipili, 22, to 12 October 2026 to allow the National Prosecution Authority (NPA) and Legal Aid lawyers to continue discussions over the charge against the two men.
The case came before High Court Judge Mutinta Kaumbi Ndulo-Mundia, where the prosecution and defence informed the court that they were engaged in discussions to determine whether the aggravated robbery charge should be maintained or amended.
The prosecution team was led by Senior State Advocate Sipholiano Phiri, while Mbewe and Chipili were represented by three Legal Aid lawyers Kasongo Kombe, C.N. Makodza and L.N. Muwamba.
Justice Mundia granted the adjournment, setting 12 October 2026 as the next hearing date.
Mbewe and Chipili were arrested on 3 February 2026 in connection with an alleged robbery in which K9,000 was reportedly stolen from Michael Kalebwe at about 02:00 hours in Mulobela Village, Ten Miles, on the same day.
The two men were initially detained at Mwanjune Police Post before being transferred to Ngwerere Police Station on 27 February 2026.
Their case was subsequently brought before a subordinate court and committed to the High Court for trial.
On 5 October 2026, Mbewe and Chipili pleaded not guilty to the aggravated robbery charge.
MakanDay is closely following the case since the men’s arrests in February.
